iSutal stands for iDevice Standalone USB Tunnel Application Launcher. A mouthful, I know! That’s why the shortened name to iSutal.
Pronounced “i-suttle” - iSutal is meant to be a suttle and easy-to-use program which allows you to connect to your jailbroken iDevice via USB instead of over WiFi to your Windows PC.
iSutal is a Flash-based, standalone executable program. No installation is required and and it is a “standalone” app that can run from any USB drive. This allows for a portable option if you ever need to have access to your iDevice where WiFi is not available.
iSutal serves four main functions:
- Browse your iDevice files on your PC via USB using iFunBox, WinSCP, or iPhoneBrowser.
- Control your iDevice over USB via VNC connection using Veency.
- Quick tethering option that launches Firefox and allows you to browse the internet.
- Open an instant terminal/command line interface to your iDevice.
PC Requirements:
- A Windows system. iSutal is tested working in 32/64-bit Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7.
- Your PC must have the iDevice drivers and services installed via iTunes. If you don’t want or don’t use iTunes, you can install just the drivers file (AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi) which is found in the iTunes installation file. Extract via WinRAR, etc.
- This will run from your hard drive or portable USB thumb drive. It’s fully standalone and no installation required. Simply launch the iSutal.exe file.
- No, this does NOT run on Macs. See the FAQs page for where to find the source of the iphone_tunnel program. Perhaps someone can port to Mac.
iDevice Requirements:
- You must have a jailbroken iPhone or iPod Touch with Cydia installed.
- You must have the following apps from Cydia installed and enbabled: OpenSSH, Veency.
- Your iDevice must be using the default password ‘alpine’ – however, if you have changed your default password, you can still use iSutal. See the FAQs page for further instructions.
